Fuchsia
May 2025
In Fuchsia, a friend of yours needs you to complete an unusual favor, with very few instructions. Can you do it? Explore the island to discover how to complete your quest, while protecting your friend Maria's gift.
Fuchsia is a top-down game where your goal is to complete a rather unusual quest given to you by your friend Maria: protect a fish bowl and get it to her friend Yasmin. Explore an island that happens to be infested with cats that think fish are really tasty snacks. Protect the fish bowl while exploring to figure out just how to get this pet fish to its new home.
Fuchsia was a game created in two days for the Mini Code for a Cause Game Jam, hosted in May of 2025. As such, all assets for the game were made in that period, and the game went from start to finish in just two days. The theme for the jam was “You Only Get One,” and the game utilizes this by having Maria give the player a pet fish, one of a kind. If the fish gets eaten by cats, there is no second fish.
The game was made using the Unity Engine, being coded in C#, while the art assets were made using Clip Studio Paint Pro. The music was made using Beepbox.co, and the dialogue sound effects were recorded by me.
This project showcases an ability to create games quickly and creatively and a desire to try many different genres of games. This game was created in only two days, and yet it features a polished tileset, an interesting storyline, and fun music and dialogue sound effects. Creating a game in such a short amount of time takes a lot of focus and energy, and a concrete plan from the start. Fuchsia was made by taking advantage of every minute available, leading to a well-made and fun game that didn't allow itself to be held back by time constraints.
