In Overlfow, you are a crab living on a beach. However, the water is quickly rising, and if you don't move soon, you'll get caught in the flood. Keep Moving Forward to avoid the flood, while navigating the harsh terrain.

Overflow is a fast-paced score attack game, where your goal is to survive as long as possible before the wave catches up and floods your row of tiles. Select tiles by clicking one of the three in front of the crab in the next row, and plan ahead to avoid getting stuck behind tricky tiles. When the last tile in a move is selected, its effect is applied, modifying the total number of tiles in the move or altering how the crab moves. Longer moves lead to higher scores, so select your tiles wisely!

Overflow was a game created in one week for the Code for a Cause Game Jam, hosted in February and March of 2025. As such, all assets for the game were made in that period, and the game went from start to finish in just seven days. The theme for the jam was “Keep Moving Forward,” and the game utilizes this by restricting the crab’s movement to only going forward, with the threat of the waves encouraging players to move quickly.

The game was made using the Unity Engine, being coded in C#, while the art assets were made using Clip Studio Paint Pro. The music was made using Beepbox.co.

This project showcases an ability to create games quickly while maintaining polish and quality. While the game had to be conceptualized, prototyped, and finished in just one week, it still hosts many of the features that make a game compelling and unique. Balancing an intensive game jam along with being a full-time university student requires excellent time-management skills, which were cleverly put to use here. It also showcases a beautiful set of handmade game assets that are thematic with one another and easy to read and understand.
